This morning we discuss the equivalence in how Jewish Law treats mental and physical health. We apply this to various issues relating to Yom Kippur, based on an article by Rabbi Yoni Rosenzweig, the founder of Maaglei Nefesh: The Center for Mental Health, Community, and Halacha. We explore guidelines for setting aside fasting on Yom Kippur, as well as perhaps omitting some of the prayers and adjusting the themes we embrace, to enable those struggling with their mental health to remain safe and avoid risk.
