This morning we discuss the critical importance of donating organs after brain stem death, in accordance with Jewish law, as supported by many of our greatest rabbis, including Rabbi Moshe Feinstein, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, and the Israeli Chief Rabbinate, among many others. But we explore the rise of normothermic regional perfusion (NRP) as a new, encroaching standard for determining when to harvest an organ, which is a serious violation of Jewish Law. I urge everyone to follow my example and register with Halachic Organ Donor Society (www.hods.org), to be willing to donate organs to save the lives of others, in accordance with Jewish Law.
