This morning we borrow a term from psychology and define spiritual languishing, acting Jewish but without a sense of drive, purpose, or enthusiasm. At times I have felt this way, and I think many others do as well. This week's Torah portion (Kedoshim) begins with a preface, an exhortation - Kedoshim Tihiyu, Be Holy! - which, according to Dr. Aviva Zornberg and Rabbi Naftali Tzvi Hersh Berlin teach us performing Mitzvot is not enough. Commandments must help us reach holiness and spiritual vitality.
