This morning we investigate the ancient, mysterious, controversial, and often misunderstood custom of Kapporos - which for some includes swinging a chicken on the eve of Yom Kippur. We trace its history, the objections to it, more "palatable" alternatives, and its correct meaning. And we include a remarkable story from Rabbi Yechiel Spero that powerfully speaks to us in this moment.
