This morning we pay tribute to all the brave young men and women of the IDF (Israel Defense Force) who have fallen in battle, including the 21 who lost their lives this past Monday. We hear their words, gain inspiration from their optimism and dedication, and describe what we need to do now to honour their memories.

Michael Whitman is the senior rabbi of ADATH Congregation in Hampstead, Quebec, and an adjunct professor at McGill University Faculty of Law. ADATH is a modern orthodox synagogue community in suburban Montreal, providing Judaism for the next generation.
