This morning we discuss an under-appreciated but essential component of the Mishkan, the Paroches, the tapestry which hung in front of the Kodesh HaKedoshim (Holy of Holies). By forming a boundary, it created the higher level of sanctity. Holiness can only be achieved when we set boundaries or limits. We also analyze the famous metaphor for our chaotic lives, from The Rav, Rabbi Yosef Soloveitchik, who asks us to imagine looking at the chaotic, messy back of a beautiful tapestry. With this we understand a marvelous detail of the Paroches tapestry craftsmanship, which shows us what we are now missing in the absence of a close and clear encounter with God, the restoration for which we pray daily.
