114: Don’t Forget to Breathe

Breathing seems simple enough, right? It’s something our body does automatically and rarely do we need to even think about it. But what happens when we practice conscious “box breathing,” also known as tactical or navy seal breathing, in times of stress, frustration, or panic?

This technique can help slow a racing mind, calm our nervous system, soothe pain, and sharpen mental focus. 

There are several benefits of box breathing. It reduces stress and anxiety, improves focus and concentration, lowers our heart rate and blood pressure, and enhances mental clarity and alertness.
