“We have to be knowledgeable and prepared for our calling” -Dr. Shadeiyah Edwards
Dr. Shadeiyah Edwards is the Founder and Chair of Together Lets Rise, which is a non-profit organization aimed at serving children, high-risk youth, and those affected by incarceration and gangs in South Los Angeles. She is a self-mastery coach, consultant, mother, speaker, professor, and the author of two books.
Dr. Shadeiyah Edwards has a Doctorate in Clinical & Forensic Psychology and uses it to serve underrepresented and underprivileged youth in her area. What I loved about our conversation was that she supplied many resources for people interested in learning more about racism in America and she provided a great perspective for people who want to fight against racism but cannot support the Black Lives Matter organization.
I learned from talking to Shadeiyah that there are many small non-profit organizations fighting against racism. If you are a listener who wants to fight against racism but you cannot support the Black Lives Matter organization, I encourage you to listen to Shadeiyah’s answer to my last question. In essence, she encourages listeners to find a local non-profit organization that is fighting against racism. Her organization is a great example of a local South Los Angeles organization serving those in their immediate area.
