1208PODCAST

Steven is the lead pastor of The Foundery Church in Wellsburg, WV. His encounter with Holy Spirit as a teenager pushed him to search for and recognize God's workings in his life and those around him. He believes there is a (w)holistic approach to the ministry we do for the Kingdom of God.

It was the Holy Spirit who drove Jesus into the wilderness to be tested. As we watch Jesus face off against Satan, we come to learn a few things about battling temptation in our own lives.

As John the Baptist starts his ministry, he calls the remnant of Israel into repentance. This mantle continues to be carried by Jesus after John's passing, and that message is now passed on to us here at 1208 as the Holy Spirit has called us to "repent to make space for new gifts."

As we begin a new series on Luke, we take a look at an incredible sign being given about John the Baptist's birth and his father's unbelief. How often have we been told exactly what to do and yet we want more proof and signs to point us toward it?

Why are we so intent in our new church model on physical and spiritual needs? Jamin explains that even though much of the church has seen good works as something separate or other than church, it's actually a core part of our identity.

At 1208 Greenwood we've reprogrammed church to work in a lot of unique ways. So why do we still incorporate a fairly standard worship service with music, preaching and more into our gatherings? We dive into 1 Corinthians 14 for more answers on that.

Why do we make a big deal about eating together when we gather on Sundays? Why do we incorporate communion into it? Is it just to be cool or is there a Biblical precedent to it? In this message Jamin explains how eating together connects to Jesus’ ministry and the gatherings of the early church and the prophetic and strategic messaging it carries when we still do it today.

Professor Mark Edwards wraps up his series on the replacement principles, hitting on the final two rules of communication.

The last few years have been a long journey. From the rise of dinner church to the crash of the pandemic, to the attempt to restart dinner church, to the pause to pray all summer. But now our board comes forward with a new direction that we think fits all of the words we’ve been hearing from the Spirit and something that matches our DNA as 1208 and as Church in general.

Professor Mark Edwards continues to help us understand how to replace bad habits. In this episode he gives us the first two rules of communication so that we can have better conversations and better establish what’s going on in our hearts and minds.
