Last week, my husband and I celebrated 42 years of marriage. Often times when people find out how long we have been married, we are asked; What’s your secret? What is the secret to a long happy marriage?

Given the rate of divorce these days and the variety of ideas that are out there as to what makes a marriage really work, we’re not surprised to be asked this question. We find that couples truly do want long happy marriages, they just don’t know what it takes to get there.

Today I’m sharing with you a recent encounter where my husband and I gave our answers as to what it takes to still have a loving happy marriage after 42 years.
