Welcome to the 1230 TWC Business Beat Radio Show
This week we're taking a Blast from the Past, returning to a conversation that remains every bit as relevant today as when it was first broadcast.
On the 1230 TWC Business Beat Radio Show, we believe some conversations are simply too important to have only once — and menopause and women's health certainly fall into that category.
Awareness around menopause has grown enormously, but for many women there are still questions, uncertainty and challenges around symptoms, treatment, work, relationships, confidence and simply understanding what is happening to their bodies.
That's why we're revisiting this warm, informative and refreshingly open conversation with members of our wonderful Menopause Gang.
And although our guests hadn't been able to complete all their usual pre-show information before the original programme, that certainly didn't stop the conversation flowing!
Sometimes the best radio happens when knowledgeable women simply start talking.
Birthdays, Celebrations & Hugs
Before we get down to business, as always, we're celebrating everyone with a birthday this week.
A very Happy Birthday to you!
And we're sending one of our famous 1230 TWC hugs to anyone who could do with one.
Whether you're celebrating a success, facing a challenge, navigating change or simply taking things one day at a time, we're thinking of you.
Women's Health Matters – And So Does Talking About It
Menopause is a natural stage of life, but that doesn't mean every woman's experience is straightforward — or the same.
The physical and emotional effects can touch almost every area of life, including health, sleep, confidence, concentration, relationships and working life.
For businesswomen, employers and employees, those effects can inevitably spill over into the workplace too.
Yet for generations, women were often expected to simply get on with it.
Thankfully, the conversation is changing.
And that's really at the heart of this episode: talking, asking questions, sharing experiences and knowing where to look for appropriate professional support.
Because knowledge can build confidence — and an honest conversation can sometimes be the beginning of finding the help you need.
Fiona brings warmth, empathy and a passion for helping women understand and navigate menopause and midlife.
Throughout our conversation, she encourages women to ask questions, become better informed and recognise that there isn't one single menopause experience or solution that fits everybody.
Her contribution is a reminder of just how valuable it can be when women feel able to talk openly about what they're experiencing — without embarrassment or judgement.
We also celebrate Dr Patsy Rogers, who had successfully completed her specialist Menopause Course at the time of this programme.
Patsy brings a medical perspective to the conversation with warmth and clarity, helping to make sometimes complicated health information feel far more accessible.
Her continued learning and interest in menopause care reflect something particularly important: as knowledge develops, so too should the conversations women are able to have about their health and the support available to them.
Congratulations again, Patsy.
Drawing on her extensive NHS experience, Siobhan Barry helps us explore some of the many physical and emotional changes women may experience during menopause.
Our conversation touches on areas including hormonal changes, musculoskeletal health, sleep, concentration and emotional wellbeing — all subjects that can have a very real impact on everyday life and work.
Siobhan has a wonderful ability to help make complex subjects understandable and relatable.
Because the more we understand, the better equipped we are to ask the right questions.
Sending Our Best Wishes to Michele Yianni-Attard
Our planned guest Michele Yianni-Attard was unfortunately unable to join the original programme due to ill health.
So we're sending Michele our very best wishes and lots of 1230 TWC love.
We hope you're keeping well, Michele. 💗
Menopause, Women in Business & the Workplace
There's another important reason this conversation belongs on a business radio show.
Menopause doesn't stop when a woman walks through the office door, starts a meeting, speaks to a client or opens her laptop.
Changes to sleep, energy, concentration, confidence and physical wellbeing can affect working life — and for a woman running her own business, there may be nobody else to pick things up when she's struggling.
That makes menopause awareness in business and the workplace an important conversation for women themselves, but also for colleagues, managers and employers.
Creating environments where women feel able to talk, ask for appropriate support and be taken seriously benefits far more than the individual woman.
Why We Need to Keep Talking
Perhaps the strongest message from this episode is also the simplest:
For too long, menopause was whispered about, joked about or simply not discussed at all.
Open conversation doesn't mean every woman will have the same experience or make the same choices.
It means women are more likely to realise that their experiences deserve to be heard, their questions deserve answers and support is available.
No woman should feel she simply has to struggle in silence.
And that's exactly why this particular Blast from the Past deserves another listen.
1230 TWC – Connections That Matter
At 1230 The Women's Company, conversations are at the heart of everything we do.
Our friendly business networking meetings bring women together to make genuine connections, share knowledge, support one another and, of course, create opportunities for business.
Whether you join us online or in person, you're not expected to walk into a room and fend for yourself.
We believe networking should be welcoming, purposeful — and enjoyable.
Evolution of Finance for Businesswomen+
And there's another very important date in the 1230 TWC diary:
Our next Evolution of Finance for Businesswomen+ brings together expert insight, practical learning, meaningful networking — and plenty of fun — around our theme:
Insurance Beyond the Policy: Protection, Preparation and Possibility
Because protecting ourselves and our businesses isn't simply about having an insurance policy tucked away somewhere.
It's about understanding risk, asking the questions we perhaps haven't thought to ask, preparing for the unexpected and giving ourselves greater confidence about the future.
There'll be speakers, business stands, Networking Bingo, free prizes, our Bonanza Lucky Dip, refreshments, live music and plenty of opportunities to make valuable new connections.
Serious when it needs to be? Of course.
But we're going to enjoy ourselves too!
The Menopause Gang Will Return
And this conversation isn't finished.
The wonderful Menopause Gang will return to the 1230 TWC Business Beat Radio Show on 30 November 2026.
We'll once again bring together expert knowledge, real experiences and practical conversation around menopause and women's health.
Definitely one for the diary.
A huge thank you to my wonderful guests:
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, experience and passion — and, most importantly, for helping us keep this conversation going.
And thank you, our listeners, for joining us for another 1230 TWC Business Beat Radio Show – Blast from the Past.
