As I have grown in my understanding of the Scriptures, I have come to understand that deliberately mis-readining, or mis-quoting Scripture -- especially when we are using the Scriptures to 'justify' a personal desire -- is a violation of the 3rd and 9th commandments (depending on how you number them).
