Have you ever looked in the mirror & immediately all the negative thoughts came rolling in? If I am being honest until my later 20's I struggled with negative self talk about my body. It's so easy to talk harmfully to ourselves because society makes us believe our bodies need to appear a certain way. And when we don't see that reflecting back at ourselves we can begin to wonder what is "wrong" with me that I can't look like her or him. But in reality we are perfectly made in God's image. And yes we can improve our bodies but that doesn't mean we get to talk down to ourselves, make ourselves feel worthless or not beautiful. We can start changing the way we think about our bodies and how we talk to them by being self aware how we are talking to ourselves but also by asking ourselves some really helpful questions. 1. Is what I'm saying to myself true? 2. What am I grateful for that I can physically do? 3. Now that I know what I want to improve what can I do to improve it? What is one step I can take now? 1 Corinthians 6:19 "Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, who you have from God? You are not your own We have this one body, we need to take care of it and that also means with our mindset around our bodies. I hope you can feel hopeful that you can begin to love yourself fully!
