Stephen Kerrison is a UK based songwriter, musician and producer. His solo output is a singular, ever evolving and consistently exploratory body of work that’s characteristically difficult to pigeonhole. His music utilises folk lament, atmospheric soundscape, sculpted noise and field recordings to create songs that are equal parts evocative, beautiful, desolate and dramatic. For over a decade he has been a consistently active figure on the fringes of the UK music scene, notably having been a member of Zun Zun Egui (https://open.spotify.com/artist/3GB2QRhmNEazUJ0aOThHWZ) , Safetyword (https://open.spotify.com/artist/3fusSgklHGwcxgsG0UjQDF) and Anta (https://open.spotify.com/artist/51VLWc3aFUX1qlocUSpbLa) , as well as being a touring member of Bronnt Industries Kapital (https://open.spotify.com/artist/707uJGPrVi9m3wPCKRAsBF) and Andrew Hung (https://open.spotify.com/artist/6JnhL5qqBYbBbc7jUdvtxq) ( Fuck Buttons (https://open.spotify.com/artist/6tCENAD2FBfIMyygJMeOJV) ). He has remixed ROCH ( All Time Favourite Girl (Stephen Kerrison Remix) (https://open.spotify.com/album/4wUNhvThNq280UZF3rhyU5) ), North Sea Navigator ( Dimming Light in the Widening Dead Stars - Stephen Kerrison Remix (https://open.spotify.com/track/1zZDhM3XuKdTnLjjaSXInt) ), and has produced a prolific catalogue of one off projects and collaborations. His debut solo album ‘Mater’, released in April 2020, is a bracing record that directs it’s rage and despair both inward and at the world at large. Beautiful and unsettling, musically and lyrically tumultuous, ‘Mater’ is the culmination and distillation of the themes explored in Kerrison’s solo work over the last five years and is his strongest, boldest statement to date.
