#13 The Weight of Our Words

Our words carry significant weight, especially the ones we use in our own thoughts. The language patterns of "I have to," "I need to," "I should," and "I can't" create feelings of powerlessness and anxiety in our daily lives.

• Feeling overwhelmed or anxious often stems from our thoughts, not our circumstances
• These feelings typically emerge when we use disempowering language in our internal dialogue
• Challenging the truth of statements like "I need to" or "I have to" reveals that very few things are absolute necessities
• Replacing disempowering language with phrases like "I choose to," "I get to," or "I will" creates a sense of agency
• Even when responsibilities feel unavoidable, reframing how we think about them alleviates pressure
• God's voice is convicting but not condemning, loving not accusing, and His burden is light
• If your thoughts make you feel heavily burdened, they're likely not from God
• Small shifts in language can create significant changes in how we feel and approach our responsibilities
