Want to learn the ins and outs of culture and hiring?

Sharthok has you covered on both accounts in this wide-ranging conversation with us. As the Co-Founder of Klaar (an HR tech start-up), he also shares:

  • The learnings from building the culture
  • Founder's mental health and why it is important
  • Why building in public + execution > the idea
  • Identifying the right problems to solve
  • Hiring the right candidates and the role of leadership
  • His mistakes as a founder and learnings from failures

Sharthok combines a career in HR—including working with giants like Aramex, Cipla and Kraft Heinz.

In addition, he has also been the founder of 2.5 failed startups (Ten Mint Entertainment, Pyper and Rootstore). He says 2.5 because his earnings from TME did put him through two years of B School.

EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS:

Founder's mental health and why it is important

Psychological wellbeing is important to be efficient and encouraged about work. Hustle culture has made the most primal need of individuals an option. For a founder, it is important to understand that their startup is not a sprint, it's a marathon. It requires dedication, hard work, and attention for a long period. So losing sleep or in its initial days can be harmful to both the founder and the startup. The lack of proper mental health effects is an individual's passion for their product or service. Hence, founders need to get appropriate sleep, eat adequately, and continue living life in a routine that expands outside of the startup and business. It is beneficial in the long run.

For product development, it is important to pick which problems are to be solved:

Humans love to ease their lives. If given an option, an individual may automate everything and fulfill all their needs via external sources. Hence, the demand for innovation and products never ends. At a given point in time, there may be five demands that need to be fulfilled.

What is a vital hiring right problem for a company?

When a startup or a business starts hiring employees, it becomes essential to check and analyze if their needs align with the company objectives. As the number of employees increases, there are Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) out into place to ease the process. Furthermore, Talent Acquisition systems are also put in place for companies that are hiring beyond 70 employees.
