Ibiza - The Reset Rebel

139: The Reset Rebel: My story of the toxic world of Journalism in London

Listen Later

When I was about 6 I knew exactly what i wanted to be.
The next Kate Adie.  A war journalist and foreign correspondent.

There was no doubt about it and that never changed for the first 20 years of my life, until I started actually working as a journalist in London.

Then i started to see that it was hard being in a newsroom in a toxic environment of stress, deadlines, fear, pressure and a lot of men telling me what to do.

In fact, I had some pretty traumatising experiences along the way from CNN to Virgin radio and more than a few tricky moments at the BBC, but I have never really spoken about what it was really like. I have never felt like I could.

So in todays WOM take over episode, my friend Harry Charles, has got the reigns and is asking the questions and together we unpick the 15 years i spent working at various radio station and news rooms around the city.

For me this felt like a good way to unleash some stories I have never spoken of and walk my walk before we commence our Womens Voice Activation Retreat 28-30th October.

If todays conversation makes you think there a few things you would like to change about the way you communicate and feel heard, then drop me an email, our early bird ticket is still up for grabs at 299 Euros for the event in Ibiza in 3 weeks time, to [email protected].

Thank You for listening to my story.
