For the LAST EPISODE OF 13TH & ELM we decided to watch a movie that parodies horror movies, Scary Movie. "What's your favorite scary movie?" Hopefully one we watched and covered over the last 1.5 years. Anyway, for one last time, listen to us stumble, mumble, and yell over each other while we watch Scary Movie. Press play with us and buckle up. Thank youuuuuuuu anyone who watched and supported us along this journey.
Tune in this week for the last regular episode of 13th & Elm. That's right folks, the end is near, but before we get there you have to get through this episode where we discuss The Shining. Stanley Kubrick's horror classic is over 40 years old and known as one of the greatest horror movies ever made. Kubrick's harsh directing methods aside, the impact of this film cannot be ignored. How will the guys feel about it? Will they stay on track? Tune in next week while we do a watch-a-long episode for Scary Movie for our last episode ever. It will be insane. Thank youuuuuu!
This week the guys (and a special guest!) discuss the adored, 1974 horror comedy from Mel Brooks, Young Frankenstein. With an all star cast this movie is sure to hold up after almost 50 years right? Listen to find out! Tune in next week for our second to last episode ever, and its one of the all time greats, you do not want to miss these last few episodes! Thank youuuuuuu
This week was Rob's pick so vampires incoming! Sexy, long-haired, A-list vampires in fact. That's right, this week we watched the 1994 vampire drama, Interview With The Vampire. A well known and loved movie by Rob and Mykel and a first time watch for Bill. Will this 28 year old movie live up to its name? Did it deserve to be the box office hit it was? Listen to find out! Tune in next week for Bill's pick (hint: 70s horror comedy by one of the greatest!) featuring a special guest! Thank youuuuuuu!
That's right folks! Its the second annual Elmises award show. This insanely professional awards show gives out Elmies in tons of fun categories such as best gore, best effect, best nudity, and more! The eligible movies are all the films the guys watched this season for the show. You do NOT want to miss what our favorite and our least favorite moments of the season were. Listen to the end to see which film kicks off the final season of the podcast, season 4, the morgue door season.
The guys do a holiday special! Woo! And its right on time! That's right elmers, this week the guys watched and discussed the slasher redefining early 70s classic from Bob Clark, Black Christmas. This movie is often referred to as the best Christmas horror movie, will the guys agree? Listen to find out, and tune in next week for the second annual Elmies Award Episode! Thank youuuuuu!
This week the guys discuss the sexy science accurate gore fest known as Re-Animator! This movie is often discussed amongst the best of the best 80s campy horror flicks, but will the guys agree? Will just one moment of silence for Barbara Crampton be enough? Will the Elmers get another end of the year awards ceremony? Maybe a holiday special? Listen to find out! Thank youuuuuuuuuu!!!!
This week the guys discuss the 2008 Swedish vampire film, Let The Right One In. The love story between Oskar, an outcast kid with no one to turn to, and Eli, a mysterious new neighbor, is a very well received film in the horror community, but will it live up to 13th & Elm's unrealistic standards? Listen to find out! Tune in next week for Mykel's pick (hint: 80s sexy gorey masterpiece). Thank youuuuuuu!
This week the guys talk about the 1990 creature feature horror comedy, Tremors. This movie was a big part of all our childhoods and a fond memory of horror. But will it hold up 32 years later? Will cowboy Kevin Bacon still be sexy? Will Reba still be a badass? Will it still be a fun movie? Listen to find out. Tune in next week for Bill's pick! (Hint: a foreign flick that is Rob's go-to genre). Thank youuuuu!
To celebrate Thanksgiving the guys traveled to the planet Mars to repopulate and attempted to find a movie as exploitive, horrific, disturbing, and violent as the holiday itself. That's right, for the holiday the guys review Cannibal Holocaust, the 1980 Italian Cannibal horror film from Ruggero Deodato, featuring the impeccable music of Riz Ortolani. The movie is considered to be one of the most controversial movies ever made, will we agree? (***Spoiler: yes, we agree. This movie features real, on screen, animal deaths, graphic depictions of torture and rape, and more. This movie/episode is not for the faint of heart***). Tune in next week for Rob's palate cleanser pick. (Hint: its an American film made 10 years after Cannibal Holocaust that is SEXY and FUN and SLIMY). Thank youuuuuuuu!
