While "Criminal Minds" made the FBI's BAU part of our vocabulary, it actually started back in 1974 in southwestern Montana. Over an 8 month period, one girl and one young woman were taken in the middle of the night, but there were no viable suspects. It took the emerging field of criminal profiling to track down the perpetrator and get justice for their families.
