#148: Conquering The Slopes With Danelle Umstead

Listen Later

True vision comes from the heart. This is what our guest, Danelle Umstead, exemplifies. Diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa at the age of 13, Danelle has no central vision and is losing her peripheral vision. But that didn’t stop her from conquering the slopes. Danelle is a professional skier, three-time Paralympian and bronze medalist, 53-time world cup medalist, and Dancing with the Stars contestant. She relates how coped with her disability, got introduced to skiing, met her husband, ski guide, and partner, Rob, and what it’s like to be the first blind contestant on Dancing with the Stars. Sometimes it is only when you get out of your comfort zone that you find a new way of life and experience a sense of freedom and joy. Don’t miss this episode and find inspiration in Danelle’s story of resilience and making the impossible possible.
