15. Choosing Love after Unhealthy Relationship

Listen Later

My friend Keira is one of the most amazing humans on the planet. I wanted to have her on my podcast because she is the epitome of unconditional love. She has known hardship, has had difficult relationships, struggled and still, she doesn't close her heart to people. I am truly inspired by her.

This episode is the two of us having a conversation about what is was like being in a manipulative and/or abusive relationship. It's just a drop-in to our conversation. I asked her if I could start recording and she said yes. Listen in as we talk about the hard decisions you face when someone you love is causing you harm, why leaving is so difficult, how to pick up the pieces and how we discovered loving again. There is very little formality and there's a couple of times where we're searching for words because we want to keep some things anonymous. Some of the names and specifics may not be represented to protect her anonymity.

If you are in a unhealthy, manipulative or abusive relationship, you are not alone. As hard as it may be, share with someone you trust. Take the first step in healing. If you don't have anyone you can talk to call your local domestic violence center. There are people trained in having these types of conversations.
