#15 Ghosts

In this episode of The Official Teachify English Podcast
- Lewis speaks about Ghosts, one of the topics studied in class this week, he discusses what image we have of ghosts, recommends a few scary movies and gives some useful vocabulary to express disbelief but also expressions which mean to joke with someone.

Below, you have some of the more complex vocabulary used...

  1. Spooky - scary, haunted or related to ghosts. 
  2. Concerned - worried. 
  3. Roughly - more or less, approximately. 
  4. There is bound to (verb) - there is guaranteed to (verb)
  5. Graveyard - a place where there are graves. 
  6. To be my cup of tea - to be something I like. 
  7. Haunted house - a place where there are supposedly ghosts.
  8. Freak someone out - scare someone. 
  9. Gullible - innocent, naive, believes everything. 
  10. Take something with a pinch of salt - not believe something or not take seriously.
  11. Pull your leg - joke with you, take the piss/Mickey or trick you. 
  12. You must be kidding - you have to be joking. 
  13. Fishy - difficult to believe, suspicious. 
  14. Dessert - sweet, pudding // Desert - Sahara, Atacama, Gobi. 
  15. Scream - shout, cry at a high pitch.

Last but not least, the joke...

What's a ghost's favourite dessert? I scream!
