Yetziat Mitzrayim has often been viewed, particularly by the baalei mussar, as a personal journey towards a better, more free, healthier, happier version of one's self. Leaving the "meitzarim" - the "tight areas" of one's life, behind.
What then, is the meaning of the seemingly irrelevant detail, that upon leaving Mitzrayim, the Jewish People were commanded to request that the Egyptians hand over their money and valuables?
