We'll pick up where we left off two weeks ago as James was talking about worldly wisdom and the wisdom that comes from above. If we walk in the world's ways we'll find ourselves with all kinds of problems and we'll find that we don't even really care all that much about what God thinks. James says those who don't even pray about the things they have need of and that pray with the wrong motive were as adulterers and adulteresses in their relationship with Jesus.
This week we'll take a break from the book of James and we'll expand some things that we studied in our service this past Sunday in Luke 8. The Lord set the demoniac free in the region of the Gadarenes. This topical podcast will give some further scriptures to think about when it comes to the topic of demons.
This week we'll continue to talk about our tongues and James will give us some simple things to think about. He'll talk about springs of water and how fresh and bitter water does not come from the same spring. He'll talk about trees and the fruit they bear as well. Then we'll talk about wisdom and there are two kinds of wisdom. The kind that comes from above and the worldly wisdom of this earth.
This week we'll begin a new topic in our study of James as our tongues come into focus. We'll see James use three examples in relation to the power of the tongue, we'll talk about the need for those who teach to realize the seriousness of the words they use and we'll talk about how the Lord changes our words and the things that proceed from our tongues as we simply grow in our faith and are filled with His Spirit.
This week we'll finish the second chapter of James. We'll look at several different example of faith and works assisting each other as we seek to complete God's will for our lives. We'll look at what Abraham discovered in his life as he first believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness and then later on in his life as the Lord asked him to sacrifice his son we'll see that the works of obedience followed. We'll talk about demonic faith and the faith of Rahab as well.
This week we'll come to one of the well known sections of the book of James. James asks a question, what good does it do to say we have faith and then have no works? Can that type of faith save a person? We'll focus on just that one verse this week and I think we'll get some good lessons from it.
Join us this week as we continue to study through the book of James. We'll continue our discussion about being rich and poor, showing favoritism and learning to love the way the Lord would have us to love others.
Pure and undefiled religion, don't judge others, preferring others, Let's not get in the way of what God wants to do, Let's pray for revival.
Today we'll talk about the need to get rid of filthiness and all wickedness from our lives and receive with humility God's Word. We'll also talk about how we need to not just hear the Word but to actually do something about it, if we don't we are deceived James says.
Don't be deceived!, All good gifts come from above, Our Father never changes, Learn to listen, Talk less, Get rid of wrath towards others.
