Today, if you’re listening to this on the day of release, is the 30th anniversary of the murder of Irish investigative journalist, Veronica Guerin, who was shot to death in broad daylight for daring to expose the criminal underworld, one which the Irish police, the Guardi, were not equipped or not wanting to deal with. Veronica’s murder led to public outcry, and the government swiftly set up the Criminal Assets Bureau in order to tackle organised crime.
