Back in 2017, just after the inauguration of President Trump, we invited Professor Jeremy Waldron to deliver our annual Sir John Graham Lecture. Professor Waldron delivered what he called “A letter from America” a description of the warning signs of political incivility as a cautionary tale to New Zealanders, indicating how hard it is to regain civility once you lose your grip on it.
