16: Talking to Sofia of MWP about male allies, networking like a girlboss, the rule of reciprocity, and eschewing traditional gendered norms

Listen Later

I spoke with Sofia Haq, founder of Muslim Women Professionals, a marketing consultant and Co-Director of Riordan Affairs at Riordan Programs Alumni Association about her professional experiences and some of the latest research on diversity and innovation. She only recently made the transition from healthcare to fashion and already has Austere Attire and Diane Von Furstenberg on her resume. Sofia, a UCLA alumna, and I spoke about the value of male allies, effective networking from psychological and practical standpoints, the conflict between culture and reality, faced by some women, and more in this first part of a weekly three-part series. Follow @muslimwomenprofessionals on Instagram to help strengthen workplaces worldwide. You’ll also find an application to join MWP when you’re there. The deadline ends on the 31st! As you can see in this podcast's description and have probably heard me say/shriek more than once, diversity has been repeatedly correlated with innovation and financial success.
