On episode 160 I am delighted to be joined by Team Ireland Chef de Mission Gavin Noble.
We discuss managing and leading Team Ireland, the role of Chef de Mission and Head of brand. We also delve into his career as a professional athlete competing in triathlon, learning from the best in the world, how we can improve as a nation competing on the world stage, the reality of high performance sport in Ireland and so much more.
Gavin very kindly gave me nearly 2 hours of his time while on annual leave in early January. I had heard Gavin speak for the first time just before heading out to Paris last July and was blown away by his role and attention to detail. As someone fascinated by elite sport and athletes performing at their best I couldn’t think of someone better to paint the picture of what goes on behind Team Ireland and learning from olympic champions in the village.
So many takeaways from this and we could have recorded for another 2 hours. Hopefully you get as much from this as I did! Gavin thanks for your time, excited to see what you build for LA 2028 and beyond. Safe to say Team Ireland is in safe hands!
