Peter Bond was a section trumpeter at the Metropolitan Opera for 28 years. Prior to the Met, he was Principal Trumpet of the New Mexico Symphony (1987-82) and a busy freelance musician in Atlanta (1980-87).
The focus of Mr Bond’s early years were drum and bugle corps and big band jazz, but in his 20’s he began serious study of orchestral trumpet with John Head (Atlanta SO). He also did “outpatient” work with Vincent Cichowicz, Arnold Jacobs, Adolph Herseth, Robert Nagel, and his Met colleague James Pandolfi. These experiences, along with 28 years of opera, inspired him to create his own pedagogy based on literal singing and speech. His method book, “The Singing Trumpet” will be released by Carl Fischer in April.
