We're not only back on The Hunger Games train, but can happily confirm on this rewatch that the sequel, Catching Fire, is a step up from the original film in almost every way. In a plot twist genuinely shocking to some, and painfully obvious to most sane people, our protagonist Katniss (alongside her completely useless husband Peeta) must once again compete to survive in the arena. It's just that this time, their competition is comprised solely of other former victors! As silly as it may sound, the narrative unfolds in a compelling way with lots of political conflict, and does actually manage to strongly justify re-entering the games. The movie also features interesting new supporting characters, improved visuals, and an ending that will keep you on board for later entries. So let's discuss it all. May the odds be ever in our favour.
