We all understand that you send hundred of the same emails to hundred professors, but at the same time, making your solutation personal is the act of paying respect to your potential superviser.

If you didn't spent this 10 seconds to replace the name of Professor in your email, this demonstrate that you are not that devoted to work in this specific lab with this Professor. Please, remember this and always make your salutation personal.
