~ What is the counter for cows? ~

日本語の助数詞は面白いなと思います。

例えば、ワインを数えるとき、ワインボトルは1本、グラスに入っているワインは1杯、ワイングラスは1つと言います。助数詞は500種類くらいあるそうです。

犬は1匹と言いますが、牛はどうやって数えるか知っていますか？

にほんごの じょすうしは おもしろいなとおもいます。

たとえば わいんを かぞえるとき、わいんぼとるは いっぽん、ぐらすに はいっている わいんは いっぱい、わいんぐらすは ひとつといいます。じょすうしは ごひゃくしゅるい くらい あるそうです。

いぬは いっぴきといいますが、うしは どうやって かぞえるか しっていますか？

I think Japanese counters are interesting.

For example, ippon for a bottle of wine, ippai for a glass of wine, and hitotsu for a wineglass. I heard there are about 500 kinds of counters in Japanese.

You use ippiki for dog, but do you know how to count cows?

匹 （ひき）is a counter for animals that are smaller than human (in general).

頭 （とう） is a counter for animals that are bigger than human.

So you often use 頭 when you count cows.
