This week we're sending you over to a podcast hosted by Carry the Load called Lessons From The Front and hosted by Todd Boeding. In Episode 065 of Lessons From The Front, former 17Twenty guest Dan Bradley (E084) tells the story of his first mission as a Joint Terminal Air Controller in the strike cell the night Jolly 51, an HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter, crashed in western Iraq killing all seven aboard.
This is an impactful story that we're very excited to highlight this week. We hope you click over and listen.

This week Jeff Parsons of DPR Construction joins the 17Twenty team in studio, despite a local ice storm in the D/FW area. It was a great joy to chat with Jeff as we walked through his story, learned lessons from his life, talked through building the future workforce, studied the origin stories of DPR and its deep integration with Jim Collins (Built to Last, Good to Great, etc.), and revisited the must-attend AEC event, DPR's Hoot and Hollar.
There are two fistfuls of wisdom nuggets from this weeks episode; however, one of our favorite things about this week's episode is that we continue to pull forward some of the same things from leaders across different ages, times, industries, backgrounds, etc. People matter. Relationships win. Be kind. Listen first. Embrace curiosity. Practice transparency. Hold the flashlight.
We hope you enjoy this week's episode, can grab a little nugget in there, and keep moving mountains!

This week Kevin and Stewart have the privilege of sitting down with Annette Leslie, the co-founder of the Carson Leslie foundation. Following the earthly loss of her beloved son Carson, she set out on a mission to honor his last whispered wish and has relentlessly sought solutions to the horrific problem that brain cancer is the deadliest disease of our nation’s children.
We talk a little backstory, a lot about Carson, the mission of the foundation, and the ways the construction industry as poured in to the foundation, including DPR's annual hosting of the upcoming 7th Annual Hoot & Holler Benefit Concert.
You're going to love the story, be wowed by Carson's wisdom, inspired by the mission of the foundation, and moved to find a space to participate.
One way to participate is by joining us for the Hoot & Hollar; tickets are still available at dprhootandholler.com.

For the season finale of the 17Twenty podcast, Kevin and Stewart host a long-awaited in-studio guest, Ian Fullington. Ian is a long-time colleague of Stewart, and as they've both recently embarked on new professional journeys, they sit down to reflect on almost a decade of working together, reflections on the industry, lessons learned from being in the trenches together, the immense and immeasurable value of good mentorship, industry involvement, and a bevvy of other things as, in true-to-form fashion, the story winds from timeline to timeline, and from serious to joking, all the while walking through poignant points about family, work, leadership, growth, and change.
As is usually the case, you're going to want to grab your journal and pen and take some notes here. There are dozens of gems woven in and out of the fabric of this episode!

This week we revisit Episode 43 with Sarah Nuse, Chief Executive Officer of Tippi Toes Inc., author of Destined for Greatness, host of the Destined for Greatness Podcast, author, speaker, and business builder. Though our content isn't often repurposed, while Kevin and Stewart were taking extra laps around the episodes and checking the listening statistics, they noticed that most of you missed this episode, making it worth revisiting.
With Kevin out with his family at Disney, Stewart and his son, Hayes, record a new bumper for the episode from a super secret location, and engage in a little pre-episode banter we hope you'll enjoy before cutting to the touched-up audio from the original recording.
Get your pen and journal ready this week. Class is in back session!
