Staying Uncomfortable

Listen Later

Mahatma Gandhi said “Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong”.

Not forgiving someone is the equivalent of staying trapped in a jail cell of bitterness, serving time for someone else's crime.

Forgive and forget? Keep in mind that forgiveness is not the same as forgetting. Forgiveness does not entail pretending that offenses have never happened.

“Forgiveness is a gift you give to yourself to be able to sleep at night."

Some questions we ask:

  1. Why is someone living rent free in your brain? (1:00)
  2. Have you let someone know that they intentionally or unintentionally hurt you or suffered in silence? (3:00)
  3. Have you reached out to someone that you have hurt and apologized? (12:00)
  4. Have you ever looked in the mirror and said ‘I forgive myself’? (16:00)
  5. If someone can forgive their neighbor for accidentally killing their son, what is our excuse? (18:00)

In this episode, we discuss techniques, from letter writing  to conversation closure, to forgive someone else and yourself.

Forgiveness is hard work but it is worth it. It simply means letting go of pain and baggage from the past. If you forgive someone and yourself, you are doing this for your physical and emotional health.

You can lighten the burden that transgressions have left upon you. The power of forgiveness will set you free!
