“生如夏花”出自印度诗人泰戈尔《飞鸟集》第82首。但诗人只写道：使生如夏花之绚烂，死如秋叶之静美（Let life be beautiful like summer flowers ），而如果所流传的诗歌《生如夏花》并非泰戈尔所写，只是后人根据泰戈尔的原话引申出的全诗。
