Staying Uncomfortable

Listen Later

Research shows that in 2017 alone, Americans forfeited 212 million vacation days, which is the equivalent of $62.2 billion in lost benefits.

If unused time off isn’t enough to convince you, stress can lead to depression, anxiety, burnout, and more serious health problems.

Practicing self-care isn’t always easy. Most of us have stressful jobs or are too consumed with familial obligations and feel drained. Me-time is usually last on the agenda.

"What if we recharged ourselves as often as we recharge our phones?"

Some questions we ask:

  1. When was the last time you got a massage? (7:00)
  2. Remember the activities that brought you joy and excitement as a child? (8:00)
  3. Have you taken the time to unplug, reflect and pinpoint your stressors that trigger anxiety? (10:00)
  4. Which people bring you joy and boost your mental health? (12:00)
  5. When was the last time you picked up the phone and had a meaningful conversation with a friend? (13:00)
  6. Do you end your day off from your responsibilities by practicing gratitude? (14:00)

In this episode, we dissect the physical, mental and spiritual ways you can treat yourself to some rest and relaxation without having to hop on a plane to escape.

What if you recharged yourself as much as you did your phone?

Take a reset day to yourself..for yourself. You will bounce back rejuvenated with a renewed sense of balance.
