This morning we read about Gideon as he prepares for battle. The Lord wants to make distinctly clear who is going to win the battle. It will not be the might of men, but the Lord alone. 

Each time Gideon thinks he might have enough men to go into this war, the Lord says to him, "Oh, no, this is still too many!" Until finally there are only 300 brave souls to go into this battle. 

The Lord wants us to put our whole trust in Him. No matter how big the thing He is calling you to, if you trust, follow, and reside in the Lord, he will see you through. Are there areas in your life that you need to crucify to Him that you may be following him completely? 

I have been pre-recording these so everything is in place when I start traveling. As I was recording, I forgot today is Independence Day. Here is the Collect for Independence Day: 

O ETERNAL God, through whose mighty power our fathers won their liberties of old; Grant, we beseech thee, that we and all the people of this land may have grace to maintain these liberties in righteousness and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
