Blessed are The Persecuted
Matthew 5:10-12
Main idea: Suffering on Christ’s behalf is a mark of the Christian.
The tears of repentance and the blood of persecution are the costs of following God (Luke 14:28).
Persecution is necessary to Christendom - it produces strength, sincerity, and purity of faith (James 1:2-4).
True Christianity gives no charter of exemption from suffering (1 Peter 4:12-19).
Remember that sufferings in this life, compared to eternity, are short (1 Peter 5:10; Isaiah 35:1-10).
