Three years have passed and for the final episode Wes and Jack are reunited (in the podcasting sense) to ruminate, cogitate and digest their life in the 36 months after the trials and tribulations of having their son placed with them. Thoughts are discussed, and together they look to the future as a family of three.
Sallying forth alone, Jack continues on his and his Husbands journey to completing their family with the highs and lows of the matching process. A possible match has been suggested by their social worker but unbeknownst to everybody, a worldwide pandemic was just around the corner...
We're back! We've blown off the cobwebs of this podcast series and are determined to finish it! Due to time constraints Jack's gone solo to discuss the latter part of the journey to panel with Stage 2 training and the joy of panel itself.
Enjoy! And for those starting their journey and have any questions, give us a holler over on Insta
After working like the clappers at our local nursery for several months we were finally accepted onto our Adoption programme.
Holding our noses we took a deep dive of medicals, form filling and the worlds most in depth questionnaire culminating in a three day training course where we met fellow adopters, learnt a great deal and Jack had a near death experience.
All in all, quite a full on experience!
How many trips to the loo does it take before you're convinced your social worker is happy in your home?
After a hiatus, Jack and Wes are back as they recount their adoption journey. In this episode they meet their first social worker and give them a tour of their home but is it a dreamy Victorian cottage or a baby death trap? Plus they discuss their experience of volunteering, is it a waste of time or a life defining experience? Finally, discover the heart rendering tale of what happens when you combine a toddler and a bowl of Greek yogurt!
Jack and Wes continue with their adoption journey.
After disregarding Jack's Mother's attempts to source a surrogate, they plunged headfirst into the trials and tribulations of finding an adoption agency. Should they go for local authority or voluntary? Is there a difference?
In this episode they discuss their thought processes and insights and Jack discovers the joys of the music effects button on his mixer...
So it begins, our very own podcast! we document our multi-year adoption journey through highs and lows (and the odd near death experience from Coronation Chicken) from searching for the right agency, to volunteering, to training, thorough to social worker visits to being approved as adopters via panel before being matched to our son and the start of our life together as a forever family.
Episode 1 explains who the dickens we are as well as our thought process to plumping for adoption in the first place meanwhile asking the important question of whether Jack really does sound like Maggie Smith with a head cold and why was his Mother vetting dentists receptionists in the first place??
