The Nativity Story is the second major motion picture in recent history to attempt to reach the nation's Christian audience by realistically portraying a famous Biblical event. Mel Gibson's 2004 film, The Passion of the Christ was a hugely successful endeavor, fueled largely by huge church audiences that packed movie theaters across the country. It was heralded by many for accurately depicting the final hours of Jesus Christ. The Nativity Story tells the other end of the story, beginning with a young Mary becoming "engaged" to Joseph and ending with the birth of Jesus. It is a familiar story and one that has been told in innumerable ways throughout the years. Does The Nativity Story effectively convey the "Christmas Story" or is it merely a rehash of familiar events? Download Episode #20 to hear our thoughts. Plus, a mini-review of The Fountain and Stephen checks out a film from his "Most Ashamed" list.
