Infertility/Conception Treatment Methods
OI | ovulation induction - where a doctor gives you medication to take, which can help you ovulate and become pregnant. Examples: Clomid or Letrozole.
IUI | intrauterine insemination - where semen is injected into the uterus artificially. Depending on the country, it can be performed at home or in the doctor's office. Additionally can be a known donor (e.g. friend or partner) or an unknown donor.
Egg retrieval - where a trained fertility specialist removes eggs that they will freeze for future use. Requires you to inject the medication at home and have close follow-up. Can then choose to have semen placed in an egg to create an embryo. This is what is used for IVF.
IVF | in vitro fertilization - where a trained fertility specialist takes an embryo, yours or a donor’s, and surgically places it into the uterus to help someone become pregnant.
Doula: a trained labor and postpartum support person.
