d.       GOD’S LAW IS THERE FOR US TO KNOW WHEN WE HAVE OFFENDED OUR HOLY GOD.AS PAUL SAYS IN ROMANS 7:7 THAT HE HAD NOT KNOWN SIN BUT BY THE LAW. GOD’S LAWTELLS US WHAT IS RIGHT AND WRONG. SIN IS TRANSGRESSION OF THE LAW. DO WE WEEP,DO WE MOURN FOR OUR LAW BREAKING? OR DO WE BOW UP AND SAY “JESUS ABROGATED THELAW”. DO WE DEFY THE LIVING GOD WITH OUR WILLFUL DISOBEDIENCE?

e.       THE PEOPLE WEPT, AS ALBERT BARNES PUTS IT, Because the Law broughtvividly before them their sins of omission and commission.

f.       MATTHEW HENRY STATES: It was a good sign that theirhearts were tender, when they heard the words of the law…The better weunderstand God's word, the more comfort we find in it; the darkness of troublearises from the darkness of ignorance.

g.       JAMES TELLS US IN CHAPTER 4 VERSES8 THROUGH 10

h.       Jas 4:8  Draw nigh to God, and he will drawnigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, yedouble minded.

e.      MATTHEWHENRY SAYS: QUOTE it represents the believer's life on earth: a strangerand pilgrim here below, his home and heart are above with his Saviour. Thisfeast of tabernacles was a representation of the believer's tabernacle state inthis world, and a type of the holy joy of the gospel church. The conversion ofthe nations to the faith of Christ, is foretold under the figure of this feast,Zec_14:16. True religion will render us strangers and pilgrims uponearth. We read and hear the word acceptably and profitably, when we do accordingto what is written therein; when what appears to be our duty is revived, afterit has been neglected. END QUOTE

f.       ZECHARIAH PROPHESIES ABOUT THE COMING DAY OF THELORD IN CHAPTER 14 VERSE 16 - Andit shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nationswhich came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship theKing, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
