After being told it was just a cyst, Rob Metcalfe was diagnosed with an incredibly rare cancer - Pleural Synovial Sarcoma. Rob's love of the great outdoors, helped him both mentally and physically through his diagnosis and his treatment, which lead him to starting his blog 'Walking with Sarcoma'. Here, he’s documented his hiking trails, whilst speaking openly about his cancer experience. Despite receiving a terminal diagnosis, Rob's constant positive energy is one of the many reasons he is an absolute ledge and made us smile and laugh throughout the making of this episode.  Just like Christmas is all about giving, in this episode we discuss what we have both actually gained from our experiences with cancer.  Whatever the adversity you may be facing in life, there are always going to be things that you can reflect on and appreciate. From new career goals, perspectives on life, being more comfortable in yourself, to being in awe of what we can mentally and physically put ourselves through. No matter how hard life gets - and even in the darkest of moments - you can keep going, you will keep going... You will do more!

In episode 2, we share our views on what you should say and do when someone you know has been diagnosed with cancer; and how when it comes to this, you don’t say it best when you say nothing at all! 

We look at the topic from Yani’s perspective - as a friend of someone having gone through treatment, and Fran’s, having gone through treatment herself. 

We delve deep into the act of ‘cancer ghosting’, the emotional effects of diagnosis on those around the patient, how patients appreciate those around them being vulnerable too and we share some home truths!
