2 things working well now on Instagram

You likely noticed how hard it is to get noticed on Instagram now. It's not that some evil cyborg algorithm hates you. It's just a numbers game.

Instagram is on track to reach 2.5 billion users by 2023. It was half that in 2019 😮

So, what does a busy clinician do to find your people on IG?

 

I'm recommending 2 things for clinicians to be successful on Instagram these days

1️⃣ Forget about followers and engagement and focus on quality

Here's the thing. For most clinicians merely existing on the platform your patients or clients are using is enough. This is because people are increasingly using Instagram and TikTok for search.

A young 20-something who needs a therapist or PT is checking you out on Instagram to see what you're like. But they're not going to like or comment on your posts.

2️⃣ Focus only on Reels

I rarely add a static post or photo to Instagram and am instead posting only Reels. Why add a photo when you can say the same thing in a format that exponentially more people will see?

Here's what I do instead:

  1. Create and download a Reel in Canva (or get mine by joining The Clinicians Social Media Club). This can still feature a quote or photo you would use in a post, but create it in a Reel size and style.
  2. Select a popular song on someone else's Instagram Reel, and then use that same audio.
  3. Add your Reel to the song and add your caption (or get mine by joining The Clinicians Social Media Club).
