Back to the 90s we go for a quintessential YRF, SRK romantic team-up! But really, this one's all about the ladies. Big-hearted Pooja and spunky Nisha couldn't be more different... but they've got two very important loves in common: dancing, and Rahul. This movie is full of color, romance, and more dance numbers than we can count. It was directed by Yash Chopra and stars Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, and Karisma Kapoor.

Our love for Kriti Sanon and Kajol is no secret, so of course we had to watch Do Patti! And while it may not be a flawless film, it features spectacular performances from them both, and drives home an important and powerful message. Trigger warning: given the content of this movie, our recap this week involves several mentions of domestic violence. But we did our best to keep them brief, and there's no detailed depiction of the violence that takes place on screen. Do Patti stars Shaheer Sheikh alongside our aforementioned leading ladies. To celebrate the birthday of our favorite Bollywood Boy, we're watching a true early aughts gem. 3KG has it all-- emotional depth, fantastic performances, intense melodrama, and dance numbers that will make you want to say "Shava Shava"! We had a blast revisiting this classic, and we're sure you will too. Stree 2 brings us back to the village of Chanderi, where the vanquishing of one foe has led to the rise of another. All of our favorite heroes assemble for the sequel - and cross-over - we've been craving. Get ready for call backs and cameos galore! As much as we enjoy bright colors, big dance numbers, and wild plot twists, we also love when Hindi cinema slows down a bit, and gives us something sweet and simple to sink our teeth into. Today's movie is Laapataa Ladies, which tells the story of two brides who accidentally swap places on their train ride to their new husbands' homes. Under the veil of a comedy/love story, this film is really about growth, independence, and self-actualization for women in rural India. We're so excited that this was India's pick for Best International Film at The Oscars, and can't wait to find out if it gets nominated! It's time for more spooktacular fun! Our next ghoulish flick is Bhoothnath, a family comedy about a curmudgeonly old ghost who is determined to scare anyone who sets foot in his house. Enter Banku, a troublemaking young boy, who is equally determined to befriend the ghost and adopt him as his new grandpa! Hijinks ensue, including some truly phenomenal dance numbers. Bhoothnath was directed by Vivek Sharma and stars Amitabh Bachchan, Juhi Chawla, and Aman Siddiqui. And of course, we have to mention the special appearance by Shah Rukh Khan. You all know we love a rom com. And when a rom com also addresses prejudices and political issues, we love it even more! That's the case for this week's film, Luka Chuppi. The story follows a couple who wants to live together before getting married, who have to navigate their conservative families' values in order to do so. And even though it's five years old, it still feels very reflective of present day. The movie stars several of our faves: Kartik Aaryan, Kriti Sanon, Aparshakti Khurana, and Pankaj Tripathi. It's time for another adventure into Tollywood-- and this time, it's not just a whole new industry, but a whole new cinematic universe! Kalki 2898 AD mixes the dystopian, futuristic visuals of a Western Sci Fi classic together with Hindu mythology. And it also boasts a pan-Indian cast: Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Prabhas (i.e. our newest South Asian crush) team up to create what can only be described as tropey goodness. It's the final installment of the Dhoom franchise (so far), and boy oh boy do we end on a high note! As high as an acrobat in the Great Indian Circus. This third chapter sees our boys Jai and Ali jetting off to America, to put a stop to the tyranny of a mysterious clown bank robber (as in a clown who robs banks, not someone who robs clown banks). But every good villain has a motive, and the best villains also have a secret.
