Today I would like to remind you that your patients often have a serious problem understanding, even in their own language.
Yes, speaking Spanish with them or having access to an interpreter is excellent and very necessary. But have you noticed that sometimes, even when we overcome the language barrier, you still have the feeling that they are not understanding you? Or that you don't understand them?
Spanish is my first language, I have the training and experience to navigate well in a medical environment, but still, many times I feel that something is off.
