Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey, along with Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and California Sen. Kamala Harris have introduced a bill they call the Monthly Economic Crisis Support Act, which would provide monthly checks in the amount of $2,000 to most Americans. The bill would allow for payments throughout and three months after the pandemic ends and be retroactive to March. Is this really a good idea? Where does the money come from?
