In 2005, the Gulf Coast was hammered by two hurricanes. AASLH, working with other organizations, responded by dispatching Historian Emergency Assistance Recovery Teams (HEART) to offer aid in documenting and mitigating storm damage to cultural resources in Louisiana and Mississippi.
