When I was 29, I told myself the next acting job I get no matter what it pays, I will from now on, for better or worse, be a working actor. So I quit my position at the Professional Examination Services. 

29岁，我告诉自己，下一份表演的工作，不管薪酬如何，从现在起，是好是坏，我就要做一个职业演员。于是，我从考试服务机构辞职了。

And now I didn’t have either the internet or a cell phone or a job. But something good happened.

这下，没有网络，没有手机，没有工作。不过好事来了。

I got a little theater job in a play called Imperfect Love. Which led to a film called 13 Moons with the same writer. Which led to other roles. Which led to other roles. And I’ve worked as an actor ever since.

我在一部叫《不完美的爱》的舞台剧中，演了个小角色。接着出演了同一个作者写的《13个月亮》。接着获得了其他角色，又带来更多角色。自那时起，我就做起了演员。

But I didn’t know that would happen. At 29, walking away from data processing, I was terrified. Maybe I was afraid of change. Are you?

但当时我并不知道会发生什么。29岁，从数据处理的工作离开，我很害怕。也许我害怕改变，你会吗？

And so at 29, in a very long last, I was in the company of the actors and writers and directors I’d start out that first year, that first day after school. I was. I am by their sides.

29岁这年，最后的最后，我进入了这家公司，和一群演员、编剧、导演一起工作。本该在毕业后的第一年、第一天就这样的。直到现在，依然和他们在一起。

Raise the rest of your life to meet you. Don’t search for defining moments because they will never come. 

主动去迎接你未来的人生吧。不要等什么决定性的时刻，因为它们不会到来。

The moments that define you have already happened. And they will already happen again. And it passes so quickly.

决定了你的那些时刻已经过去，也会在你不经意间再次过去，来去匆匆。

You just get a bit derailed. But soon something starts to happen. Trust me. A rhythm sets in. 

可能会走些小弯路，不过很快就会发生些事情。相信我，会找到节奏。

Just try not to wait until like me, you’re 29 before you find it. And if you are, that’s fine too. Some of us never find it. But you will, I promise you. 

就是别像我，直到29岁才找到它。即便已经29岁了，也没事。有些人一辈子都没找到。但你们会的，我保证。

You’ll find your rhythm, or continue the one you have already found.

你们会找到自己的节奏，如果已经找到，那就保持住。

Don’t wait until they tell you you are ready. 

只是别等着别人去告诉你，你准备好了。

The world might say you are not allowed to yet. Please, don’t even bother asking, don’t bother telling the world you are ready. Show it. Do it.

世界也许会说，你还不行。这时不必多费口舌去问，不用非得告诉世界你准备好了。只管去干、去做。

What did Beckett say? “Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better.”

Beckett怎么说的来着？“屡试，屡败，没关系。再试，再败，那也比上次强。”

The world is yours. Treat everyone kindly and light up the night.
