The 2019 Jaguar F-TYPE R was made available for test drives during the Orange County International Auto Show and iDriveSoCal's Professor, Clinton Quan, wasn't about to pass up the opportunity to get behind the wheel.

Not only did Professor Quan test drive the vehicle but he was allowed rare, off-course, access giving him the chance to let the kitty-cat-car purr!

2019 Jaguar F-TYPE R

Clinton Quan: This would definitely be considered a high-level performance sports car, a supercar in pretty much any category. And this is an incredible car, especially for the money. You're talking about a car with 550 horsepower for 100,000.

It's hard to find a car with that much horsepower and this type of luxury. Five-liter V8 supercharged. And I love the sound of the exhaust. Downshifting, it... it is a beautiful sound.

Tom Smith: Welcome to iDriveSoCal the podcast. All about mobility from the automotive capital of the United States, Southern California. Tom Smith here at the Orange County International Auto Show last day of the show with the good Professor. Mr. Clinton Quan. Say, Hello Clinton.

Clinton Quan: Hi Tom.

Tom Smith: Hello. My friend. This podcast is another vehicle review. The Orange County International Auto Show is very big on test drives, and the Professor has been busting at the seams test driving absolutely to his heart's desire, so to speak. And this one is the 2019 Jaguar F-TYPE R correct?

Tom Smith: Okay. And I saw some pictures of this one. Is it Jag's top of the line sports car? Did they have anything more performance oriented?

Clinton Quan: Yes, they do an SVR, which pumps out 575 horsepower.

Tom Smith: Okay. Is that like a supercar kind of level for Jag?

Clinton Quan: Well this would definitely be considered a high-level performance sports car, a supercar in pretty much any category. That would be comparable to the McLaren 570s-

Tom Smith: Okay.

Clinton Quan: Which I recently test drove [inaudible 00:01:28] Porsche 911 turbo s-

Tom Smith: But you didn't test drive that one.

Clinton Quan: Yeah. But this one's pretty close. It's got 550. That one's only 25 more horsepower-

Clinton Quan: Out of... It's not a big jump from 550 to 575.

Tom Smith: So, the 2019 Jaguar F-type R is a new vehicle, refresh vehicle. What's the status there?

Clinton Quan: It's a current vehicle. It's not a new vehicle.

Tom Smith: Okay.
